diyIT : do IT yourself

The open and free decentralized Internet is being Assimilated
Resistance is NOT Futile, Knowledge is Freedom

To have the option of building and operating our own virtualized and automated private cloud infrastructure we need to understand the technology building blocks that build these solutions.

This site shares application and infrastructure blueprints for deploying various IT systems and solutions leveraging open source technologies.

All services and applications Jails/VMs are running on a single server.
This mini-cloud ecosystem of containers and virtual machines follows a simple deployment template with jails mounting a common certificate ZFS dataset and maintaining their services/applications data in different ZFS datasets that are preserved when a jail is destroyed and can also be shared by multiple jails.

Another advantage of running our own private IT infrastructure, locally or in the cloud, is that now we have the option to not give up our (data) privacy and have our identity analyzed, profiled and categorized to be targeted and monetized. For communicating outside our social group we do need to interface with tools that other people use, and so that part of our data is in the public domain and exposed, but now we have control over what private data we selectively share.

Showcased here is a capital and operational cost effective approach, using minimal server and networking hardware with multiple virtualized applications for Home and Business. This solution template can be easily scaled out and adapted for larger Enterprise deployments.

strive to learn and pass on the knowledge to the next generation
one day humanity will understand the meaning of life and hopefully it will be more than ASCII 42 = "*" regex for whatever you want it to be,
and destiny is more than just a roll of a pair of dice with 42 dots (Lets nail down Quantum Entanglement)

May you Live Long (Intelligently) and Prosper and work on technology that matters.
